Black Horse Inn Hosts Fauquier Equestrian Forum

Fauquier Equestrian Forum Benefits From Community Support

Black Horse Inn EquestriansThe Fauquier Equestrian Forum (FEF), a private non-profit equestrian group, met on March 19th at the Black Horse Inn. The purpose was to discuss fundraising strategies for a public riding arena and trail head facility.

Why?
There simply aren’t enough places for equine enthusiasts to ride in Fauquier County.  That’s why the FEF wants to change that. In partnership with the county Parks and Recreation and Economic Development, the non-profit is forging a way to do just that.

The project, called the Meetze Station Park, would be located directly across from the Black Horse Inn. Designed to provide a place for horse enthusiasts to ride, it would also enhance the economic value and impact that horses bring to Fauquier County.

The Mission of the Fauquier Equestrian Forum

The mission of the FEF is to create a centrally located facility. There would then be recreational opportunities for thousands of other equestrians to ride. But the FEF also wants to create a countywide, comprehensive network of shared use trails. These trails would connect many of the county’s historic, recreational, and natural resources.

Because of Fauquier County’s natural beauty, the completed trails will also encourage new tourism to the county.

The FEF Marketing and Funding Strategy

Working with local county officials, the FEF wants to see an expansion of bridle trails throughout Fauquier. At the same time, it’s important to both FEF and the county to preserve the natural landscape and amenities that promote the area’s strong equine industry.

So far, the FEF has done tremendous work to publicize their work. They conducted trail rides, clinics, pony rides at harvest festivals, First Fridays, and community trails’ fairs.

Additionally, FEF plans to host raffles, gala benefits, and silent auctions. They are also aggressively pursuing local and national grant opportunities.
