Summerfield Inn

The Summerfield Inn is a gem waiting to be discovered. We set the standard in luxury accommodations.

Summerfield Inn, a spacious and elegant 1920’s era home centrally located in Abingdon’s historic district. Guests can walk to Barter Theatre, as well as many restaurants and shops in town. Our inn offers guests the ambiance of a private home setting with luxurious comfort and southern hospitality. The large parlors, open sitting areas and library are wonderful spaces to enjoy our lifelong collection of European and American antiques. A large wrap-around porch with swing and rocking chairs draws you outside to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens and roses. There are seven guest rooms, each with king or queen size beds, private baths, whirlpools, telephones and many amenities to ensure a comfortable and memorable visit. Guest rooms are furnished with antiques as well as traditional reproductions. The Carriage House has ground-level guestrooms. Wireless internet is available throughout the property for your convenience. Complimentary beverages and snacks are available during the day and a gourmet breakfast is served each morning. Take a walk along the stone pathway to enjoy our English style rose and perennial garden.

A generous gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room and sunroom. Breakfast includes seasonal fresh fruit, orange juice, and hot entree with homemade scones, biscuits, or muffins. Fresh brewed coffee, tea, sodas, and juice are always available. Our guests enjoy complimentary wine and afternoon refreshments in several sitting areas or outdoors on the old-fashioned wrap-around porch with swing and rockers. Wander along the stone path and view the English rose and perennial garden. We encourage you to pause along the way to enjoy the aromatic herb garden and relax and admire the seasonal beauty Mother Nature provides.

Abingdon, founded in 1778, is known as the gateway of Southwest Virginia, an area unparalleled for its natural beauty. The rolling hills and tree lined streets beckon visitors to enjoy a self-guided walking tour of historic Abington homes and businesses dating from the 1700’s. Attend the Barter Theatre for a live performance or enjoy the incredible Virginia Creeper Trail for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Guests are often surprised that a small town can offer such a variety of attractions and at the same time maintain historic character, warmth and charm.
We look forward to meeting you when you stay at Summerfield Inn during your next visit to our historical town.
